Aims and objectives

 

         To strengthen the Surveillance Activities for 18 Nos. of Diseases of Public Health Importance.

         To detect Outbreak signals for communicable disease early so that timely remedial measures can be taken at the earliest to avert mortality and mobility.

 

Objectives of  RNTCP

 

         To achieve and maintain a cure rate of at least 85 % among newly detected infectious (new sputum smear positive ) cases.

         To achieve and maintain detection of at least 70 % of such cases in the population.

Boat Clinic (AKHA … The Ship of hope)

 

AKHA, “The ship of hope in the valley of flood” has been developed by Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research (C-NES) to provide health services to the poor and the marginalized in the river island of the Brahmaputra in Dibrugarh district of Assam especially for woman and children. The novel idea was conceptualized by Mr. Sanjoy Hazarika, Managing Trustee, (C-NES) to reach flood victims and marginalized population living in the island and sandbars of the Brahmaputra (not less than 2.5 million to three million people live on these chars or chaporis as they are called in Assam) to provide Health services, training and awareness on health, sanitation, livestock care and education.

AKHA operates in the islands in Dibrugarh district to provide preventive and promotive health programmes to the communities. The boat can also be used as class room/training centre for villagers, farmers and students for enhancement of livelihood opportunities, better income generation.

Programs:

*      Routine immunization of children  0-5 years & pregnant mothers

*      Vitamin A Supplementation

*      Pulse Polio vaccination

*      Japanese Encephalitis vaccination (Special Programme).

*      General health check up of patients

*      Screening of high risk groups

*      Timely referral of cases.

*      Conducting Delivery.

 

 

Sick Newborn Care Unit (SCNU) at Assam Medical College & Hospital, Dibrugarh

 

Setting up of Special Care for New born Unit at AMCH, Dibrugarh and upgradation of Obst. & Gynae. Department from NRHM fund.  A special new born unit has been set up at AMCH, Dibrugarh for the first time in Eastern region for the infant who are sick and under weight at birth. For this Rs. 32 lacs. has been received from State NRHM and UNICEF has provided some specialized equipments. Aslo the Obst. & Gynae. Department etc are repaired and renovated with worth of Rs. 90 lacs.

 

 

Public Private partnership with Tea Gardens with District Health Society, Dibrugarh.

 

          AIM –    To improve the Health Condition of the                Tea Garden Community.

 

        To improve the Health scenario of the Tea Gardens, PPP with Tea Gardens has been launched giving special focus on Reproductive & Child Health. Till date 37 Tea Gardens have signed MoU with District Health Society in the District. Under PPP St. Lukes Hospital, Chabua has also been started.

 

37 Nos. Ambulances also been distributed to TG under PPP.

Aim –

v  To improve the up-to-date reporting regarding JSY, ASHA incentive, Referral Transport money, institutional delivery, birth and Death rate etc. at the Block and District level.

 

Boat Ambulance

AKHA Boat is going to the riverine areas once in a week and stay in the chaporis for 3-4 days and again next week they go to other chaporis. So, there is a need of urgent requirement of the Health Services. The Boat Ambulance will serve the purpose. This boat ambulance will equipped with all the equipments like an ambulance and there will be Doctors, Nurses and other staffs. During emergency, this Boat Ambulance will go to the chaporis and they will carry the patient to the Medical College by giving first aid treatment.

 

Cost of the Boat Ambulance is around 60.00 Lacs.

Maintenance – 4.00 Lacs.

Human Resources – 4 Lacs. 80 Thousand. (1 MO, 1 GNM, 1 ANM, 1 Pharmacists & 1 Grade-IV)
