Activities of the Department
i) The activities are mainly on SPORTS
& YOUTH WELFARE activities.
ii)Raising the standard of sports and Games
among the students of the District organising the Inter school tournament.
iii)On development of sports and youth
activities in Rural and Tribal Areas as a whole.
iv)To catch the Talented youngs and provide
the necessary amenities and to give incentive required.
v)Grant for creation of sports
Infrastructure.
vi)Special Award to winner of Medals in
state and National sports events and to coaches.
vii)Schemes of scholarships for training of
specialists and outstanding sports persons in sports and adventure abroad.
viii)Promotion of sports among women.
ix)Sports Fund for pension to meritorious
sports persons.
x) Refering the name of the youths for
National Awards in connection of National Intergration and Harmony.
xi)Grant to Rural schools for purchasing of
Non.consumable sports equipents and development of playground under
centrally sponsored scheme.
xii)Organisational of cultural activities,
connected with the specific purpose of promoting National Integration.
xiii)To organise leadership Training camp
to induce spirit of communal Harmony.
Brief Note on the schemes undertaken by
the department.
1.Holding of Tournaments among the Higher
and High schools in 2(two) phases : a) Summer and b) Winter.

Football under 14 yrs and under 17 yrs.

Volleyball both boys' and girls under 19
yrs.

Cricket under 19 yrs.
-
Kabaddi and kho-kho under 19 yrs.

Table Tennis under 14 yrs. and 17 yrs.

Badminton - under 14 yrs. and 17 yrs.

Athletics, Handball and Judo.
a)Table Tennis coaching undergoing AOD,
Digboi under the departmental Table Tennis coach Sri Rajdeep Bhuyan.
b)Table Tennis Summer Coaching held in the
month of June, 2001 centrally at Indoor Stadium, Dibrugarh District Sports
Association, Dibrugarh.
c)Schemes of scholarship for training of
specialists and outstanding sports persons.
d)Distribution of sports goods to
Educational Institution, Youth clubs, Association etc. under D.C.P. schemes, beneficiaries
and selected on the following grounds.
i) MASS PARTICIPATION in the tournaments
organised by District Sports Authority.
ii)Representing Inter District
Tournaments.
iii)Priority given to remote Areas for
development of sports amongst the Rural Youths.
17 (seventeen) Nos. of physical Instructors are provided to 17 nos. of Higher
and High Schools to impart training on games and sports and physical
Education to the students.
A regular
coaching programme amongst the students in the events of 'JUDO' has been
continuing at our departmental District Gymnasium Centre, located near
Chowkidingee playground, Dibrugarh under the supervision of a Physical
Instructor.
Schemes taken up
in the last two financial year
In the year, 1999-2000 Inter school
tournament was organised successfully in the following events.
District champion Football team under
19,17,& 14 years age group were sent to participate in the state level
tournament respectively Indu Hazarika, Dewkon Memorial and Pilik Chowdhury
Memorial Inter District School Football Tournaments.
Three nos of coaching camp were
conducted at Mohanaghat, Chowalkhowa and Dibrugarh respectively in the events of
Football and Cricket under D.C.C.P schemes.
In the year of 2000-2001 like the
previous years Inter school tournement were organised centrally at
Dibrugarh in the following events.
Football under 19 yrs, 17 yrs and 14
yrs age group accordingly the District Champion team were
sent to participate in the state level Inter District school
tournament.
Besides Football, Kabaddi (boys' and
girls') Kho-kho (boys' and girls') Table Tennis (boys' and girls') Judo
(boys' and girls') were organised successfully.
Schemes Currently under implementation
The
following schemes are implemented
successfully during the session 2000-2001.
1.Inter High & Higher Secondary schools tournament
organised from 19th June, '01 to 28th June'01, which included the following
events :- a) Football under 14 and 19 yrs,

Kabbaddi and Kho-kho (boys & Girls) under 17 yrs of
age
-
Table Tennis (boys' and girls') under 19 yrs of age.

Judo (both boys' and girls')
2.Sending under 19 yrs. Football
team representing Dibrugarh in Indo Hazarika Inter District Football held
at Guwahati during the month of January, 2001.
3.Construction work of a Mini
Stadium is going on at Rajgarh under Tingkhong Revenue Circle. Foundation stone,
of the said stadium was laid by Deputy Commissioner , Dibrugarh on 19th March,
2001. The project of consist of construction of a pavalion and development of
playground with boundary fencing.

The following
sports day programme and other sports activities have to be organised centrally
at District Headquarter as mentioned below.

Dhyan Chand day as 'SPORTS DAY'
on 29th August of each year.

Sports day for Assam Lion 'RADHA
GOVINDA BORUAH' on 17th October of each year.

Abhiruchi "SPORTS
DAY" on 3rd Sept. the birth day of Arjun Bhugeswar Boruah

Special Seminer on Sports officiating
organised by our office with Dibrugarh District M.E. School Teachers
Association.

Sports competition and children
sports are organised on the occassion of Republic and Independence Day
celebration.
